Organized by singer-songwriter, Sue Turner, Crimson & Clover will highlight the unique individual musical and spoken word performances of eight lower mainland women and will feature Vancouver jazz veterans, Jennifer Scott on keyboard and Rene Worst on bass. Performers include: Sue Turner, Colleen Savage, Rita Dickson, Pat Collier, Kim Seary, Leanne Bolton, Erin Lowe and Ruth Nyman with all proceeds of the event being donated to West Coast Teams, a Vancouver non-profit organization that teaches at-risk youth to train service dogs which are then certified and placed with mentally and/or physically challenged individuals in the community.
Crimson and Clover will also be the unofficial launch of Free Phoebe: a self expression arts collective. Their manifesto explains that "In her musical and personal exploration, Sue has discovered that a collaboration that contributes to others, gives her power, freedom and juice". Free Phoebe is a collaborative community of women who create artistic events and possibilities that make a difference for others. A "Phoebe" never questions her worth, worries about what others think and is never horrified when she falls flat on her face. She repeatedly forgives herself for any and all imperfections. She pays attention to what she loves, is empowered in the present and, celebrating her own courage and commitment, takes on the world one adventure at a time. She is unstoppable. She says what she means and follows through on what she says. She inspires herself and others, making us all want to be free of whatever is stopping us from living the life we've always dreamed of.
